Soft
Soft light
soft petals
soft color.
2016
The plasma purple flower
shines in a bright
green background.
2015
I happened upon this dead dandelion,
just sitting on this stump.
Sad.
2014
As much as I personally hate summer
(mostly because of the heat),
I will miss its beauty.

Perspective
Icy

2016
A contrail cuts
the sky
in half.
2015
Classic shot.
2014
I live in a part of the country where the weather poses a real threat to power-lines.
This perfect half-moon wreath is a result of the good work of our local crews.

Now
Dark
light
cold.
2016
Soft pink flower
invites a
sweet smell.
2015
A simple view of beautiful life.

New Fad in Front-Yard Seating
Over the summer, I noticed a new way people are representing their family; think of those tacky stickers people place on their rear-windshields only now in their front-yards.

Rise and Set
The moon light
sets as the
sun rises.
2016
Sunlight splashes space
across the bricks
of a well.
2015
An enormous cloud bends and pushes
towards the mountain peak,
almost touching it.
2014
The air is cool, the nights are long, and the leaves are changing. It's time to welcome the dark and wonderfully mysterious death of summer ... Halloween is just around the corner!

Passing Clouds
Passing clouds
separate the mountain
from the building.
2016
The interesting light
from the rising sun
makes possible
such shots.
2015
The little leaf-wings spread for flight.
Sunflower baby, fly!

Bubbles in a Puddle
This picture reflects the basic story of life:
We are a temporary bubble, formed by the elements,
dropped from heaven into a pool of others,
dropped from heaven into a pool of others,
and then we are gone,
leaving only our ripples.

Morning Experience
So many colorful
mornings to
experience.
2016
Early sunrise illuminates
a small grove of trees,
set before the
beautiful home.
2015
Streaming colors of golden orange
cross the sky in delicate lines.
2014
Orion Moon Tree
With a long exposure,
this scene takes on a surreal quality.
I am blessed to live so close
to so many beautiful spaces.

Letting Go
Frozen time;
letting go.
2016
Golden clouds march
towards the mountain top,
illuminated by
the rising sun.
2015
Light has a way
of giving different impressions
of the same thing.
One feels different
than the other.
2014
When I saw this flower,
I could not help remembering
a summer treat from the Ice Cream Man.

White
White
long
and pointed.
2016
A few seconds of exposure
capture the plasma light,
looming ominously
from above the creepy
soul-warehouse --
a retirement home,
ironically called
Sunrise.
2015
Some sunrises
are certainly better
than others.
2014
As humans, we work together to overcome the elements of nature. Like the mountain, some stones rise higher than others. In the affluent regions of the world, the lower stones grow larger than those atop the third-world hills. Why do we build single-family dwellings so large when so many have so little? It's a shame the view from this height does not satisfy.

White Standout
The white flower

from the dark
backdrop.
2016
Wet water cover.
2015
Look very close and you'll see two eyes in that dark hole, staring back.
On the other hand, this spider sports
a perfect Fu Manchu
and accompanying haircut.
Two different webs, two different spiders.
2014
Walking is Life
There is something so fundamental to the health and well-being of the human body that simply gets out and wanders about. It doesn't really matter where you go, just pick a direction and go.

Golden Cloud Path
Golden sunlight
lights golden clouds
above the dark tree.
2016
Puffy clouds greet
the morning light
above the mountain top.

A group of painted characters reach of the lens.
2014
I'll never get enough of seeing things only possible with my camera.

The Bright Colorful World of Childhood
Shooting at night allows for unique light sources that add character and tone. This photo reminds me of what it's like to be a kid, how simple, bright and colorful the world can be.

Sharp Hard Surface
Sharp lines
make for
hard surfaces.
2016
The shadow of a stop-sign
makes the perfect
eye-patch for this
bush-face.
2015
Cool weather, warm light, dark city.

The Hypocrisy Oath
So many religions, so many philosophies, all saying so many things. Why do we buy into them? Do we really want to treat each other better or do we want to control the ultimate outcome of death? We want others to believe what we believe because it validates our choices and reinforces our point of view. Is being right the real goal or living with integrity. So the question stands: can I recommend what I do?
